Bridging Academia and Industry Across Borders
Scala Consulting collaborated with a leading Singapore university to design and deliver a strategic academic mission to China. The goal is to facilitate high-level engagement with China’s leading universities and innovation-driven enterprises, with a focus on long-term institutional collaboration in advanced technology sectors.
Objective
The delegation aimed to explore joint initiatives with China’s foremost academic and industrial institutions—particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, and applied engineering. The program was structured to strengthen inter-university relationships and uncover future collaboration models across education, research, and talent development.
Our Approach
Scala provided end-to-end advisory and operational support across three dimensions:
- Academic Engagements: Curated closed-door meetings with senior leadership at Jiaotong University, Fudan University, and the University of Science and Technology. Dialogue focused on joint degree programs, student mobility, and collaborative research frameworks.
- Industry Exposure: Organized site visits and executive-level exchanges with leading Chinese companies in AI and smart manufacturing. These sessions offered institutional leaders firsthand insight into China’s rapidly evolving tech landscape.
- Program Design & Execution: Delivered seamless logistical and strategic coordination, ensuring alignment between institutional goals and in-market opportunities.
Results
The visit delivered tangible outcomes with clear pathways for continued engagement:
- Student Mobility Programs: Co-designed short-term exchange opportunities are already underway, enhancing cross-border academic exposure for undergraduates and graduate students.
- Research Collaboration: Early-stage discussions have progressed toward joint research in AI and engineering, with faculty from both countries exploring aligned interests and funding opportunities.
